The awarding of the location of the World Cup. Russia hosted 2018 (known for being above board) and then Qatar somehow won the bid to host 2022. The summer World Cup had to be moved to winter because of how hot summer is in Qatar, they changed so much just so Qatar could host. There was evidence afterwards that basically all of FIFA got bribes from Qatar but it got completely “missed” by the mainstream media. All of FIFA is morally bankrupt. It’s somehow got worse after they got rid of Blatter, a known conman.
…and the real problem between the US and Tehran is not what’s happening in a soccer tournament. It’s what’s happening with bombs and lives and threats and instability and all the rest.
Stop watching. I love football. But will not watch international football. National leagues are bad enough. International football is just politics now.

Yea but the World Cup is very European influenced so they aren’t as concerned about protecting or stopping the war against Iran, it’s also just safer for the Iran team to not be in the country that their own country is at war with
In fairness, Iran are lucky to play at all given they're at war with the US. Not Irans fault, I know, but with FIFA in Trump's pocket for the World Cup I'm surprised he hasn't had them straight up banned.
If Iran had started the war that would make more sense, but it would stand a reason that if you're going to host an international tournament you can't just declare war another countries as a pretext for not letting them compete properly. If that's a valid strategy I just figured out how the US can win all of the Olympic golds

The" adminstration" is probably hoping for MAGAttacks on the Iranian players on the way to and from the matches, and even at the matches. That's probably why they probably begrudgingly agreed to let the Iran team visit the US at all during the WC.
