AMA-Finished US Senate Candidate David Costello of Maine Ask Me Anything session. Ask me questions as I seek the nomination to take on Susan Collins!
My name is David Costello, and I’m running for U.S. Senate in Maine to replace Susan Collins and provide Mainers, and Americans across the country, with a senator who will actually work on behalf of everyday people.
My lived experiences are rooted in many of the same challenges countless Mainers face every day. My father John, an Army veteran and labor organizer, passed away at the age of thirty-one due to hazardous working conditions he faced as a teenager. My mother, at only 28 years of age, became a widow and had to raise four children with help from my maternal mill-working grandparents.
I know what it’s like to have to hustle to pay bills, compile years of debt, and go long periods without health insurance and health care. Like many in Maine, I began working at an early age doing jobs such as being a landscaper, cook, janitor, salesclerk, messenger, and waiter. These jobs helped me make my way through school at the University of Maine, George Washington University, and the London School of Economics. Though not without still accruing much debt. I believe that my education and work experiences equip me with the kind of knowledge and perspective desperately needed in Washington.
I look forward to answering your questions today about my campaign and vision for a substantially reformed democracy that actually helps everyday people succeed instead of just corporations and the ultra-wealthy.
Read my website here.
Update: Thank you for all the questions! I have to get to another event but was happy to see the engagement here. Remember, tomorrow is primary day in Maine! For those in Maine, consider reviewing this voter guide by Maine Morning Star for more information. Please feel free to reach out to the campaign with more questions if you have them by contacting campaign@costelloforsenate.com. Thanks again!
